The Piggery

The Piggery is a countryside barn with a private hot tub in Durley, Hampshire, between Winchester and Southampton: a two-bedroom conversion on one level that sleeps four, with underfloor heating, a log burner and dogs welcome. The old pig-sty doorways are now shaped glass windows, so the barn is full of light, and the hot tub sits in your own garden for long, slow soaks under the sky. Inside the barn

The heart of the barn is the open-plan kitchen and dining room, where the log burner and a feature wall make it the cosiest place to be on a cold evening. A breakfast bar is handy for coffee or a laptop, and the conservatory pulls in the light for a lazy morning with a book. Settle into the living area with the TV when the day is done. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker, with everything you need to cook a proper meal, and there's a washing machine for longer stays.

Bedrooms and bathroom

The main bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom has two single beds, which we can make up as a double if you ask when you book. Every bed has crisp, high-quality linen, with extra pillows and blankets, and room-darkening blinds help with a lie-in. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath, and we leave fresh towels and toiletries for everyone. Everything is on the ground floor, with no stairs.

Your garden and hot tub

Step outside to your own garden, with outdoor seating, a barbecue and the four-person hot tub. Guests say it's the most relaxed they've felt in months: an evening soak after a countryside walk is what The Piggery does best.

Using the hot tub

We fully drain, clean and refill the hot tub before every stay, for hygiene and to keep it in line with health and safety guidance. After a same-day changeover, fresh water needs around 6 to 8 hours to reach full temperature, so it may still be warming on your first evening, although we always aim to have it ready as soon as we can. It's available until 10 pm each night, out of respect for our neighbours.

Where you are in Durley

Durley is a quiet village in the Hampshire countryside, with footpaths for dog walks and two village pubs guests rave about: the Robin Hood, for its Sunday roast, and the Farmer's Home. By car, Bishop's Waltham and Upham are about 8 minutes away, Marwell Zoo 9, Botley 10, Eastleigh station 14 and Southampton Airport 15. Hamble-le-Rice is about 16 minutes, Winchester Cathedral 19, Southampton Central station 21, Paultons Park 24, and Lyndhurst and the New Forest around half an hour. Hedge End's supermarkets are a short drive for supplies.

Parking, arrival and departure

Two parking bays are kept for The Piggery, a few steps from the door, and there's an EV charger in front of one of them. Check-in is self check-in with a lockbox, any time between 4 pm and 9 pm, and check-out is by 10 am. We send directions and your code before you arrive, and our local team is on hand by message every day from 8 am to 8 pm.

Good to know before you book

• Check-in 4 pm to 9 pm by keypad gate and lockbox; no arrivals after 9 pm. Check-out by 10 am
• Everything is on one level, with no stairs
• Up to two dogs; a pet fee is added when you book, and dogs stay off the furniture
• A travel cot and high chair are at the barn
• The hot tub is open until 10 pm and is refilled for every stay, so it can take 6 to 8 hours to heat after a same-day changeover
• The Piggery adjoins The Oaks Barn, which is let separately; no parties, events, smoking or fireworks
• One outdoor security camera on the site, facing away from the hot tub
• Minimum stay 3 nights, and up to 30 nights can be booked
• After booking, the lead guest completes a short ID check and deposit step with our partner SafeGuest

Questions guests ask

• Is the hot tub private? Yes, it's in The Piggery's own garden and only you use it during your stay.
• Will the hot tub be hot when we arrive? Usually, but after a same-day changeover it can take 6 to 8 hours to reach full temperature.
• Can we bring our dog? Yes, up to two dogs are welcome (a pet fee is added when you book), and there are good walks around the village.
• Are there stairs? No, everything is on one level.
• Can the twin beds be made into a double? Yes, just ask when you book.
• Is there parking and somewhere to charge an electric car? Yes: two parking bays, one with an EV charger.
• Is it suitable for a baby? Yes, we can provide a travel cot and a high chair.
• Can we arrive after 9 pm? No. Check-in closes at 9 pm, so please plan to arrive between 4 pm and 9 pm.
