Castle View

Castle View is a harbour-view holiday home in Portsmouth: a modern two-bedroom house in Paulsgrove that sleeps six, looking out across Portsmouth Harbour to Portchester Castle. Port Solent's marina restaurants are about ten minutes' walk, there's an allocated off-road parking space, and dogs are welcome. You can book it direct with us right here.

Inside the house

The open-plan lounge and dining room, with its navy panelling, faces the water, so the harbour and the castle are part of the view from the corner sofa. There's a Smart TV for evenings in and a dining table for four. The kitchen has an oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine, and a Nespresso machine with pods, tea, milk and sugar waiting for you when you arrive. For working, a desk and chair sit by the window, with fast Wi-Fi throughout, and there are fans to keep things comfortable on warm days.

Bedrooms and bathroom

Bedroom 1: a king-size bed with harbour views, which we can split into two single beds if you ask when you book.

Bedroom 2: a double bed.

Lounge: a sofa bed that sleeps two more.

The modern bathroom has a walk-in shower. Every bed is made up with hotel-quality linen, with fresh towels and toiletries ready for you.

Outside

At the back, the private patio garden has seating for four, a sheltered spot for breakfast outdoors or a drink once the day is done.

Good to know before you book

The house is on Southampton Road, the A27, so you'll hear some traffic at the front. Street parking nearby gets busy in the evenings, which is why we keep an allocated off-road space for you. Need room for more people? Spinnaker View, which also sleeps six, is a two-minute walk along the same road.

Where you are in Portsmouth

Walking times from the front door: Port Solent's marina, restaurants and cinema about 10 minutes, Tesco, Costa and McDonald's about 10, Portchester Castle about 21 along the harbour, and Lakeside North Harbour about 24. By car, Cosham station is about 5 minutes away, Queen Alexandra Hospital 6, the ferry port 7, and Gunwharf Quays 11. Portsmouth and Southsea station is about 10 minutes, Albert Road 11, Southsea Common 12, and the Historic Dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower about 13. Buses along Southampton Road run to Port Solent, Cosham and the city centre, and the M27 is moments away.

Parking, arrival and departure

Your allocated off-road space is at the back of 142 Southampton Road (Spinnaker View), reached from Farmlea Road, a short walk from the house; we send directions with your check-in details. A second car can park for free on Watersedge Road nearby. Check-in is self check-in with a lockbox, any time between 4 pm and 9 pm, and check-out is by 10 am. Our local team is on hand by message every day from 8 am to 8 pm.

• Can we arrive after 9 pm? Sorry, no: the lockbox check-in window ends at 9 pm, so aim to get here between 4 and 9.
• Are the bedrooms upstairs? Yes, both bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs; the living room with the sofa bed is downstairs.
• Is there a cot? Not at the moment, so pack a travel cot for a baby.
