Pretoria View

Pretoria View is a four-bedroom house in Milton, Southsea, sleeping up to nine, on a residential street that guests find surprisingly quiet for the city. The main bedroom has its own shower en-suite, the garden has outdoor seating and a barbecue, and a parking permit comes with your stay.

Who it suits

Friends' weekends and celebrations, families getting together, and teams working in Portsmouth for a week or more. Groups have stayed for Pride weekend, the Festival of Speed and Christmas, and it's an easy walk to Fratton Park on match days.

Sleeping and bathrooms

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a super-king bed that can be split into two singles, with an en-suite shower, and there's a double room with a desk for anyone working and a single room at the back. Downstairs is a twin room, and a sofa bed in the living room sleeps two more. Besides the en-suite, there's a family bathroom with a bath and a separate downstairs toilet.

Living and cooking

Downstairs is open plan, with a modern kitchen, a dining table and a corner sofa in front of the TV, plus an Xbox and board games. The kitchen has a dishwasher and coffee machine, and there's a washing machine and tumble dryer for longer stays.

Outside and parking

The private garden has outdoor furniture and a barbecue, and dogs are welcome (£50 per pet when you book here). Parking is on the street in a residents' permit zone. One permit is included, and we can usually arrange extra permits if you ask before you arrive.

Around Southsea

The shops and cafés on Highland Road are about 8 minutes' walk and Milton Park about 9. Fratton Park is around 11 minutes on foot, Albert Road's restaurants and bars about 15, Fratton station about 16, and the seafront at Canoe Lake about 20. Eastney beach and Southsea Common are about 5 minutes by car, and Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower around 8.

Worth knowing

The lounge is cosy rather than large, so with a full house some of you will gather round the dining table. On-street parking is tight, as in most of Southsea, and isn't suited to vans.
